Hello...Anybody There?

So...I don't know about you, but life keeps getting in the way of things. I'm (just barely) keeping up with my challenges...although Goodreads informs me that I'm one book behind schedule if I want to meet my "Outdo Yourself" Challenge goal of 160 books. Why do I do that to myself?

Anywhoo...I decided to steal a few minutes and see how many of you are still out there and how you all are doing on those challenges. I just signed up for another one (although Carl V. insists the R.I.P. XI is an Event and not a challenge...) which means I've got 33 on tap for 2016. I've already technically completed my Reading Challenge Addicts Challenge having completed 21 of the 33, but I won't call it for sure until we see how many I finish by December 31st. I'm a little worried about the 1001 books Before You Die (and I only have to read five before the end of the year...) and the Non-Fiction Adventure. I'm just not feeling those two this time around.

How about you? Are you slaying those challenges like dragons?

Challenges, Challenges Everywhere!

As mentioned in the last post, despite my best intentions I don't seem to be cutting back on challenges at all. For every "out of my comfort zone" or library book challenge that I ignore in my determination to read only from my own TBR stacks this year I manage to find another new-to-me challenge where I can use only my own books to fulfill the requirements. Who knew that there would be a Title Fight Reading Challenge and that I would have books with every single required title word? Or a Mad Reviewer Challenge where it doesn't matter what books I read as long as I review them. Or.... you get the idea. As the image above indicates....I'm going to be buried in books and challenges again in 2016. But then that's why I'm a Challenge Addict, right? I've got thirty challenges so far. How are you doing? If you don't have enough challenges yet, trust me, there are more out there. And just to help you I've started a list on the side bar (top) of links where challenges may be found. If you know of any other challenge lists out there on the web, let me know and I'll add them to the list.

The Best Laid Plans....

You know what they say about the best laid plans....Despite my resolution to read only books from my personally owned TBR stacks (don't worry, I have plenty of books) and the resolution to only sign up for challenges which I can meet reading my own books, I'm still adding challenges to my list like they're going out of style. I may not reach 40-some challenges again-- (Yes, I'm currently rushing around madly trying to cram as many books in between work and holiday preparation as I can...)--BUT I have already grabbed up 16 challenges for 2016 and this year isn't even over. So, you all know I'm in as a self-proclaimed Challenge Addict.

How about you? How many of those bad boys have you already added to the list for 2016?

A Word From Our Sponsor

Hi folks, it's your rather silent hostess here. How has the challenge world treated you this past year? Have you gotten your fill of challenges? Are you planning to cut back? Or do you foresee 2016 as another year of Challenge gluttony?

Why do I ask? Well...I was wondering if you all want me to set us up for another year of Challenge Addicts Anonymous? I know that Gina and Cheryl (those ladies who originally launched this challenge) will laugh long and loud if they happen to stop by and read this (and they won't believe me), but I plan on cutting back on my challenges in a serious way in 2016. I sponsor another challenge called the Mount TBR Reading Challenge and every year I read 100 books from my stacks--but it doesn't help a bit. 'Cause, you see, my book-buying habit is even worse than my challenge habit and I manage to buy more books than I push off the TBR pile. So, in the coming year my plan is to only sign up for challenges that encourage me to read from my own stacks--that means cutting out those that have categories that will push me out of my comfort zone or read books that I have to borrow from the library just to fulfill a category.

Let me know what you think in the comments. If there's still enough interest, I will get a new round up and ready by the beginning of December.

Year-End Stats

So, I thought I'd do a little year-end check-in and general update. I don't know about you--but I went just a teensy bit crazy with challenges this year. No, really. More than usual. More than the number that originally caused me to seek out this support group. I signed up for...and completed 2014 goals for....Shhhhh, is anyone looking?

47 challenges. Yes. That's right. Forty-Seven. How on earth did that happen? No wonder I feel like I didn't sleep at all last year....

I really do need to cut back.  Um....what's that? You say you've peeked at my challenge list for 2015? And I already have 34 listed? Surely not. That must be a mistake. A typo--yeah, that's it. A typo!

So...let's talk about you. How many challenges did you sign up for in 2014? And did you finish them all?  And what's on deck for next year?  Speaking of which...Happy New Year, All!
